Good Tuesday Ladies and Gentlemen. What a weekend it has been. CFD took on Bonnaroo! For ya’ll that don’t know, Bonnaroo is a music festival deep in the heart of Tennessee, attended by approximately 80,000 people per year, it has officially recovered from covid. Now. If ya’ll don’t know, Tennessee is mid-June is typically a wet, hot, nightmare. Combine this with raving for hours with not the most amount of shade, potentially a few unmentionable snacks, and it can get a tad dangerous. One thing that is important is dressing in a manner that makes it easy to keep cool. Also, music festivals are a great place for self expression. They are my go to “I don’t know where else I could wear this beautifully interesting piece” location. So. This weekend we went, we saw, we conquered, we drank enough water to choke a horse. Let’s talk about what we saw
1.) Not truly naked
We’re getting the elephant out of the room first. Everyone knows sometimes the amount of fabric in rave outfits don’t always equal the cost, but can be done in a very cute or tasteful way. The main thing I saw was that turned potentially scandalous outfits into something cute and tasteful was the accessories. No one was simply wearing a bikini. They added a body chain, a fringe skirt (like me), a flow mesh pant. This gave the illusion that more skin was covered than actually was, allowing the wearer to remain cool and trendy, while still keeping classy.
2.) The fabrics
We all know the power of a lightweight fabric, and the pain of accidentally wearing denim on too hot of a day. Bonnaroo was the absolute proof of this. I have never felt more pity in my life than when I saw the poor souls in 90 degree UV of 9 weather and gals and guys in denim shorts. Instead, if you’re still going for a casual look, try a linen pant or skirt. Or, a fun skirt. There is nothing like your favorite song coming on, and you get to twirl around in a long linen skirt that spins you around and parachutes you into space, even if the space for that may be limited 🙂 it’s all about the imagination.
3.) the feeling
What truly matters at these things is your confidence. You won’t be able to truly lose yourself in the music if you don’t feel comfortable in your body. Dress for you not for anyone else. If what makes you happy is athletic shorts in a t-shirt then your confidence will shine better than any outfit could ever. Dance like no one is watching, sing like the world is deaf, and dress for heart
